Film
I love to shoot film. Slide film especially. For this set I used Fujifilm Velvia 50 and a Canon EOS 3.
Whenever I photograph with film I'm bound my the limitations of the film's sensitivity to light. In this case shooting 50 ISO filmstock at night means I cant snap off a candid photograph.
I wanted to utilize this limitation. So, I brought along my tripod, remote shutter release, and a lot of patience.
I didn't take note of any metadata so I cant say for certain how long these exposures were. Each was just a single shot, one attempt. I took my time, metered what I thought should be middle gray, and trusted my understanding of what the film would capture.
At an event where most were inside enjoying the company of celebrities and free booze. I was outside, admiring the evening dew settling in on an original 1993 Porsche 911 RS 3.8.
To me digital will always end up as a file of ones and zeros. But film, that's a tangible memory. Exposed to light and from that moment on it will always be a physical image suspended in time.
